About Me

I’ve been in private practice as a psychotherapist for 29 years. At the advent of the pandemic I began doing therapy consultations solely via webcam. I am continuing the use of doxy.me as the avenue by which we will meet, as my other patients like it very much. They have found that they are better able to focus deeply on their thoughts, feelings, and to process them more effectively for their growth. Scheduling therapy appointments amidst busy lives is more convenient. We can see each others’ faces, on the full screen, which includes facial expressions. It is more conducive to sharing from the heart and recalling instances in their lives that relate to their session, clients report. I hope you will give it a go and try this unique and effective way of having your therapy session.Saranya Tracey

I began studying psychology as I began to inquire into myself and others to find out the deeper meaning of the human mind and emotions, when I was in my early teens. Later on, I went on to receive my degrees in clinical psychology, but even that didn’t quench my thirst for ways to get back to the cause and then let it go; about ways to deal with emotions and realizing that they are inextricably tied to the mind, led me to go deeper and fuller. I was delighted then, to study for several years at the C. G. Jung Foundation, learning about the miraculous way that his seminal theories and techniques far surpassed those of Freud's (no offense to Freud); Jakob Moreno’s Psychological Psychodrama, which creates an entire shift in one’s thinking (including what is called the “two-handed dialogue," and Alex Lowen’s bioenergetics which is body centered, are some the techniques I use to help you achieve relief from anxiety and depression and to improve relationships. The body-centered techniques I learned from Alexander Lowen's training institute for Bioenergetics greatly helps as the body is used to split off from feelings in order to escape. for everyone in this day and age, as we are living in a culture where most people learn to cut off there feelings in one way or another (e.g., distractions, addictions, constant activity, etc.).  In order to stop this attempt to run away from the pain, in therapy it is important to back to the root cause. Becoming aware of the body is a way to approach your feelings. Often when feelings are temporarily escaped by relegating them to the unconscious, simply saying out loud where in the body you feel the emotional pain, then we can work with it.

Aside from being a therapist, I love to paint in oils and draw with charcoals,  I meditate every day, do Yoga and walk by the beach, in my spare time. And I love classical music, especially classical guitar.

Therapy can actually be fun, even when you’re having your “ah-ha!” moments.
